Indian-origin 9-year-olds develop innovative parents-to-child payments app
Beanstocks app allows parents to coordinate allowances and payments for their kids that are attached to real bank accounts.

New Delhi: ‘Piggy banks are so last century,’- these were the words of 9-year-old Kieran Mann who took to stage at TechCrunch Disrupt’s Hackathon to unveil an innovative parents-to-child payments app.

Mann, and 10-year-old Rohan Chopra, both of Indian origin, were the youngest of co-founders at the geeky event. While we might expect kids of this age playing out in the sun, this duo showed off the uber cool Beanstocks app that allows parents to coordinate allowances and payments for their kids that are attached to real bank accounts.

The app has versions for both parents and children. So every time the child finishes her homework or cleans up the room or simply needs funds for a project, the parent can set payments through the app. It also helps the child manage their chores.

The idea is to have children learn real-life banking practices at an early age and also manage their expenditures.

Both Mann and Chopra are school buddies and it was their first Hackathon. The young duo aims to add more features to the app.

What's your reaction?
