Australia will be on cloud nine today. After their great escape against the Afghans, which secured them the semi-final berth, the Aussies would probably be breathing a little easier today. Given the disastrous start to the tournament they had, which saw the Aussies sink to their absolute lowest, the former champions dug deep and have portrayed a comeback that exudes dominance and confidence. With their stalwart opener David Warner finding his fine form again and the heroics of the swashbuckling Maxwell, paired with the magic of spinster Adam Zampa, Australia will be looking at this fixture as a way for them to mentally prepare themselves for their semi-final clash against the mighty South Africa.

Such is unforunately not the case for Bangladesh. The Tigers have had nothing short of a disgraceful tournament, slumping to defeat after defeat, as the squad just looks on to get this tournament over with. Yet, they still have a goal in mind, and a lot at stake today: guaranteed qualification for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Bangladesh are neck-and-neck with England, who are also vying for the final spot, but as of now, the responsibility falls on Bangladesh’s hands to do the needful and to hope they did enough.

Captain’s Comments:

Pat Cummins (AUS): We are gonna have a bowl. There might be some swing in the air because it is early morning. Another chance to play well. We have got two changes. Maxwell and Starc have been rested to ensure they are good going into the semis. Smith and Sean Abbott are in. Seany getting his first game. In patches we have done well. We still haven’t played the complete game. We will like to focus on our own game. We are still on a high. Seeing the reactions all over the world.

Najmul Hosain Shanto (BAN): We were looking to bat. Nasum is coming in. To be very honest, we will look to win this match. We will look to do it.
