A Delhi Police team on Wednesday conducted a five-hour investigation at the Bundelkhand University to look into the academic records of arrested former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar.
The university told the investigators that the name of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA was not found in its records.
When the registrar of the university asked Tomar as to when he visited the varsity for studies, the AAP leader said that it was the first time he had come to Jhansi.
The police have, meanwhile, claimed that every time they visit a new place, "new documents" surface so they need to tally specimen as well as admitted signatures of Tomar and the university officials on the educational certificates.
Tomar, an MLA from Trinagar, was arrested in the morning of June 9 following an investigation into the complaint by Bar Council of Delhi that he had obtained a fake law degree from the Bihar college.
An FIR was registered against Tomar on June 8 at Hauz Khas police station and he was booked for alleged offences of cheating, forgery, using forged documents as genuine, forgery with intent to cheat and criminal conspiracy.
