Delhi minister Atishi on Friday dismissed AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal’s allegations of assault against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal assistant, Bibhav Kumar, as baseless and untrue, and said it was a ‘conspiracy’ orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a press conference regarding the incident, Atishi stated that ever since Delhi CM Kejriwal was granted bail, the BJP has been ‘rattled’.
“Swati Maliwal was the face and pawn of this conspiracy. They intended to accuse the CM, but the CM was not there at that time so he was saved. After that, Swati Maliwal accused Bibhav Kumar,” she told the media at the briefing.

The Delhi minister also alleged that it was the BJP who sent Maliwal to Kejriwal’s residence on the morning of May 13.
Atishi further stated, “In her (Maliwal) complaint to the police, she said she was assaulted. The video which has come out today shows her sitting comfortably in the drawing room (of the CM house) and threatening the police officials. She was also seen threatening Bibhav Kumar in the video. Neither her clothes were not torn nor any injury on her head can be seen in the video.”
Atishi’s comments come a day after the Delhi Police registered an FIR against Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant of Kejriwal, for allegedly assaulting Maliwal at the chief minister’s official residence on Monday.
On Tuesday, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh had described the incident involving Maliwal as “highly condemnable” and asserted that Kumar had “misbehaved” with her. When Atishi was asked about Singh acknowledging the misbehaviour with Maliwal, she responded, “AAP MP Sanjay Singh met Maliwal and he had only her version. But now this video has brought out the truth.”
BJP leader and senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, commenting on Atishi’s press conference, questioned why she did not address Kejriwal’s refusal to comment on the issue or disclose the whereabouts of Kumar.
“Atishi epitomises the nonsense which #AAP has been doling out to the public all these years. But nobody listens to or believes the party’s spin doctors anymore,” Jethmalani wrote in a post on X.
