Sub-quota row: After EC relief, Salman faces FIR
Lawyer KK Gupta said that the minorities in UP were not happy with Khurshid's quota remarks.

Farroukhabad: While the Election Commission has decided to close the issue on Salman Khurshid, a new problem has cropped up for the Law Minister. A lawyer in Farroukhabad has filed an FIR against Khurshid for allegedly violating the Representation of People Act.

"I have registered an FIR against Khurshid for his violation of the law and statement on minority quotas," lawyer KK Gupta said. "The court has given February 18 as the next date for the case' hearing," he added.

Gupta said that the minorities were not happy with Khurshid's quota remarks. "He used unconstitutional language. When the EC asked him to refrain from making such statements, he insulted the EC too. I have registered a against him in the court. The court has given the date of 18 February for hearing," he said.

Khurshid said during a rally in Farroukhabad, that if elected, the Congress would increase the quota for Muslims to 9 per cent. Farroukhabad is the constituency of the minister's wife, Louisa.
