Sohrabuddin case: Mumbai court to hear Gulab Chand Kataria's bail plea
Kataria is the second high-profile politician to be named in the case after former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah.

Mumbai: A Mumbai court will on Friday hear the bail plea of former Rajasthan minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Gulab Chand Kataria in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. He had applied for anticipatory bail after he was named by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the supplementary chargesheet.

Kataria is accused of eliminating Sohrabuddin at the behest of the marble lobby in Rajasthan.

Kataria is the second high-profile politician to be named in the case after former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah. Kataria, presently leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, was the state's home minister at the time of killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kauser Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati.

He has been charged for murder, destruction of evidence, abduction, and criminal conspiracy among other serious IPC sections. The CBI is convinced that he played a direct role in hatching the conspiracy to eliminate Sohrabuddin.

Along with the former minister, three others including two police officers from Andhra Pradesh and an Executive Director of the Marble Company, were named in the CBI chargesheet.
