Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Minister of Minor Irrigation TG Venkatash on Sunday said Seemandhra region has witnessed a gradual rise in investment despite the recent Telangana agitation in the state.
"There is every chance for development in Seemandhra...Due to the agitation, investment in the Telangana region has decreased while investment in Seemandhra region has increasing vastly. After taking all these aspects in coming years, Seemandhra will be developed in all aspects including in industrial and infrastructure aspects," the State Minor Irrigation Minister told reporters here.
Venkatesh also held meeting with irrigation officials of East and West Godavari districts and discussed various subjects relating to lift irrigation projects and recruitment of 1,000 engineers in the department.
"The budget allocation for minor irrigation has been increased in the budget by 100 per cent, but there is a shortage of 50 per cent engineers in this department," he said.
The minister said that lift irrigation projects will be set up in delta areas of the district wherever necessary.
Commenting on the frequent power-cuts, Venkatesh blamed the 'Sakala Jannuala Samme' for the power crisis.
