Rahul's appointment is internal matter of Congress: BJP
The country is not interested in what post is given to whom in the Congress, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

New Delhi: BJP on Friday made light of Rahul Gandhi's appointment as head of Congress' coordination committee that will finalise strategy for next general elections, saying it was of no interest as his party was on its way out.

"The country is not interested in what post is given to whom in the Congress. It is their internal matter. Anyways, what team is made by those who are going (being voted out of power) is of no interest," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said when asked about the development. Other BJP leaders, preferring anonymity, tried to draw a comparison between Gandhi and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi-widely touted as the likely Prime Ministerial candidate of the right-wing party.

The principal opposition has tried to give the impression that Gandhi is not a serious threat to its electoral prospects. Gandhi, 42, will be the face of the Congress in the forthcoming elections. The party announced yesterday that he will head the co-ordination committee responsible for preparing the strategy for the 2014 elections.

His growing stature in the party has been visible in the last few months. The last Cabinet reshuffle also had his stamp on it. But his detractors have pointed out that Gandhi failed to sway the voters in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh

elections.
