He said two top economists in Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram were guiding the country.

New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi finished his five-day tour to Karnataka on Saturday.

With rising prices of essential commodities and food items becoming an issue of major concern across the country, Rahul had a tough time answering questions on the raging inflation.

He simply said that he was confident that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government will check rising prices.

Rahul said the country's economy was being guided by the best of economists under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

He did not speak about the next Lok Sabha elections and neither did he ask the people to elect Congress in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls, which are expected to be held in May.

However, Rahul rejected the notion that the Congress in Karnataka is a divided party.

"I don't agree with media reports suggesting that there are several groups in Congress in Karnataka. What I have witnessed during my visit is that all senior leaders are united. It is all media creation. I don't see such things here at all," he said.

"I will come if the leaders invite me to campaign in the coming elections in Karnataka," he replied about campaigning during Assembly polls.

He lashed out at the performance of the JDS-BJP coalition government, charging that it indulged in bickering than governance.

"What we saw in the last couple of months when there was a coalition government is not good for the state. They were fighting rather than addressing problems of people," he said.

Rahul also reminded people that coalition governments are "destructive to development and not good for democracy".

It is only the single party government that can perform, he reiterated.

But Rahul, one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, found questions on women much more difficult to answer.

"It is the most difficult question so far. I appreciate very much that that women think I am charming. How do I handle this?" a blushing Rahul answered.
