New Delhi: Lauding the decade-long rule of the Congress-led UPA government, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the National Conference would stick to the coalition irrespective of the election results.
Participating in the Network18-Google Hangout on Saturday, Omar said that there was no question of joining hands with the NDA. He also dismissed any possibility of the party joining the 'Federal Front' comprising of non-Congress and non -BJP parties.
"Past 10 years under the UPA rule at Centre has been phenomenal for J&K. Statistics speak for itself," he said. The young CM claimed that the militancy has come down remarkably in the sensitive state in the past 10 years.
He, however, added that the Kashmiri Pundits keeping away from the Valley was unfortunate. Omar said that the state was putting in efforts in providing a secure environment for them. He added that the state has reservation in government jobs for the migrant Kashmiri Pundits and hoped that it would in a way attract the younger lot.
Omar, an avid Twitter user, ridiculed the overwhelming presence of BJP PM nominee Narendra Modi on social media. He in fact took on the Gujarat CM saying that he should be more responsive to his supporters and followers.
Raking up the 2002 Gujarat riots, Omar reiterated that Modi owes an apology over the massacre. He said that the country awaits an apology from someone who is a PM candidate.
Even as he agreed that the Aam Aadmi Party was an interesting phenomenon in the Indian politics, Omar was confident that the new party would not be able to replicate its performance in the Delhi elections at the national level. "Such phenomenon rise and fall," he said.
Omar who has been critical of AAP and its modus operandi also ruled out the party making a difference in the Valley. He clearly said that the AAP was a non-player in J&K.
