NDA, UNPA on a war against Patil
A sugar mill run by Pratibha Patil’s brother has defaulted a 17 and a half crore rupee loan.

New Delhi: First she sparked a row over the statements on purdah, and now it is non repayment of loans and allegedly shielding a murder accused.

The NDA and the UNPA have reacted sharply to the exclusive report aired by CNN-IBN on a loan default case and want UPA Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil to explain the allegations.

“This is a political and an ideological battle. We will not make any personal remarks against Pratibha Patil,” says NDA spokesperson Sushma Swaraj.

Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh adds, ”If the amount is Rs 17.5 crores, then it’s a serious issue.”

Documents available with CNN-IBN indicate a sugar factory, of which she is the founder president, has been declared a defaulter for failing to pay off a bank loan amounting to Rs 17.5 crores. The Sant Mukthai Factory in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district has been served several notices.

In another shocking turn of events Rajni Patil has accused Pratibha Patil of shielding her brother who allegedly murdered her husband. The CBI has already been asked to reinvestigate the case.

The Congress however quite expectedly is accusing the NDA of not maintaining electoral decorum.

“Since certain people have not able to find a candidate to match the stature of Pratibha Patil, they are attempting to create some allegation against her,” says Congress Spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan.

But despite all the mudslinging politics for the Presidential elections Pratibha Patil will have to answer several questions.

What's your reaction?
