The agitation is to protest against the shortage of fertilizers and power and bad condition of roads.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress will organize a 'jail bharo' agitation all over the state next week to protest against the shortage of fertilizers and power and bad condition of roads.

Addressing a press conference in Bhopal, state Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ajay Singh said that the protest would be held on January 9.

The duo said 2012 would be observed as 'Madhya Pradesh Bachao Year' by the Congress, which would highlight problems being faced by people under the BJP rule in the state.

Bhuria said that while he would court arrest at Bhopal, Ajay would do so in Indore.

Asked if Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh would also court arrest, they said he was busy with Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The duo said that talks were being held with Union Ministers - Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia – about their possibility of taking part in the "jail bharo" agitation.

A day-long meeting of Congress office-bearers from all over the state was held in Bhopal on Tuesday.

The party's general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh BK Hari Prasad was among those who attended the meeting.
