Marshals evict suspended MPs from Rajya Sabha
Seven members suspended for the entire Budget session.

New Delhi: Defying the action by Rajya Sabha, its seven members who were on Tuesday suspended for their unruly behaviour on Monday over the Women's Reservation Bill refused to leave the House and remained squatted in the well for over two hours.

When the House reconvened at 1500 hrs IST after two adjournments, marshals were called in and the MPs were forcefully evicted from the Rajya Sabha.

The members who were suspended for the entire Budget session at 12 noon, virtually staged a dharna in the well even after the House was adjourned. They continued to stay put even when the House reassembled at 1400 hrs IST forcing another adjournment till 1500 hrs IST.

Though Rajniti Prasad (RJD) was not named by Chairman Hamid Ansari, he too joined the suspended members and sat along with them, leaving the security staff in a dilemma on how to handle the situation.

The frequent adjournments left members of the BJP, which is supporting the Women's Bill, irritated. Most of them wanted to barge into the Chairman's chamber but were prevented by the security staff.

Earlier, Subhash Yadav, Sabir Ali, Veerpal Singh Yadav, Nand Kishore Yadav, Amir Alam Khan and Kamal Akhtar, and Ejaz Ali were suspended for their unruly behaviour in the House when the Women's Reservation Bill was moved for discussion.
