New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi turned 62 on Tueasday but it was a subdued affair as she did not celebrate her birthday as a mark of tribute to the victims of Mumbai terror strikes.

The party had last week said that Gandhi will not celebrate her 62nd birthday and also asked party workers not to visit her. However, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi were among the first to visit Gandhi to wish her.

Party workers gathered at Gandhi's 10, Janpath residence here, but there was no celebration as they queued up silently to greet their leader. But as always, party colleagues and cadres are flocking to 10, Janpath with flowers and sweets. But security personnel are making it sure that none of the gifts go in unchecked.

Congress won 3 out of the 5 states which went to polls.

What's your reaction?
