Lalit Modi evades questions but admits to having relations with Raje, Sushma and others
The BJP is treading a delicate path and has asked its leaders to stay silent on the controversy involving Vasundhara Raje.

Motenegro: Caught in the middle of a raging controversy over his travel documents and links with senior political leaders, former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi has decided to not give any statements regarding the ongoing row.

While accepting that he has 'relations' with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and several other politicians, he refused to add anything more. Evading questions from the media, he said that his lawyers have asked him not to make any statement.

"There are a lot of relations but I'm sorry I can't give you a statement. My lawyers in the UK have asked me not to make any statement. They just want to assess the situation and I shouldn't make any statements," he said.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is treading a delicate path, has asked its leaders to stay silent on the controversy involving Vasundhara Raje. Sources say that the party wants to ascertain facts in the charges that are being leveled against her. Sources also say that party President Amit Shah has asked Raje not to interact with the media.

After Sushma Swaraj admitted to have helped Modi get a UK visa on 'humanitarian grounds', Vasundhara came in the line of fire as documents released by Modi's legal team alleged that she helped the cricket czar to get permit to stay in the United Kingdom. The documents said Vasundhara allegedly filed application backing Modi in 2011 when she was the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly.

It was also revealed that Vasundhara government signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the Portugal hospital where Modi's wife was treated. The government signed an MoU with Lisbon-based Champalimaud Foundation on October 2, 2014, two months after Modi's wife underwent treatment for cancer.

Vasundhara has also been caught in financial scandal as a PIL claimed that Modi invested Rs 11 crore in her son Dushyant's company in 2008.

In fresh new details suggesting a nexus between Raje and Modi, bills of Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai show that he hosted the Rajasthan CM during her stay in 2010.
