K'taka illegal mining: Govt submits report to CEC
The CEC, which has been probing into illegal mining issue, had sought information from the state government on the issue by Tuesday.

Bangalore: The Karnataka government on Tuesday submitted a report to the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) on denotification of 1.2 acre land in Rachenahalli and its sale to a mining firm by family members of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.

The CEC had sought information on the entire transaction including on denotification of the land and its sale on the basis of a complaint filed by an NGO, alleging irregularities in it, officials said.

Samaj Parvarthana Samudaya had petitioned the CEC that Yeddyurappa denotified 1.2 acre land in Rachenahalli when he was the chief minister and his family members who purchased it later sold to a mining firm for a whopping Rs 20 crore.

The SPS had also raised the issue of payment of Rs six crore donations to Prerana Trust, owned and managed by Yeddyurappa family members, by a mining company.

The CEC, which has been probing into illegal mining issue, had sought information from the state government on the issue by Tuesday.

"If CEC asks for information, it has to be given," an official said.

The CEC is expected to submit its report to the Supreme Court on April 20.

SPS has been seeking CBI probe into the sale of denotified land and donation payment.
