Bangalore: Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj accepted the support letter of ten rebel BJP MLAs to the Yeddyurappa Government.
Sources said that the Karnataka Governor has not yet given approval for assembly session from Monday and has sought time for that.
In the context of the Supreme Court judgement, the Karnataka Governor has sent a special report to the Central Government. The report talks about the political situation in Karnataka and about vindication of the Governor's stand, quashing the disqualification of the MLAs.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa also wrote to the President and the Prime Minister saying that his government has majority and is stable.
The 11 BJP MLAs and five independents in Karnataka, whose disqualification was set aside by the Supreme Court are now willing to give unconditional support to Chief Minister Yeddyurappa.
Earlier Governor HR Bharadwaj said that there is no need for another floor test to prove the government's majority.
"We have to see that the government runs in accordance with the constitution.
I will do whatever is in the best interest of the state, but I will have to hear the government," he said.
The BJP government faced a crisis after the Supreme Court on Friday quashed the disqualification of 11 rebel BJP MLAs and five Independents by the Speaker in October, 2010.
The BJP Government had won a second trust vote on October 14, 2010 by a narrow margin after the Governor gave a second chance to the Chief Minister to prove his majority on the floor of the house. The 11 BJP and 5 Independent MLAs were not allowed to vote then.
In Bangalore, a relieved Yeddyurappa had said he had absolute majority in the House. He said though there is no need for a trust vote, "if the Governor wants it, I am duty bound to oblige him".
Earlier in the day, Bhardwaj, who met Prime Minister Manmohan yesterday, kept the pressure on saying he would seek expert opinion on whether a floor test is necessary.
