Karnataka BJP MP Ananthkumar Hegde says terrorism won't end as long as Islam is alive
He is from a hardcore RSS background and played a big role during the Ayodhya movement. He is facing threat to his life from radical elements.

New Delhi: After several BJP leaders from Uttar Pradesh, a senior party MP from Karnataka, Ananthkumar Hegde, has embarrassed the party by saying that nobody can eradicate terrorism from the world as long as Islam is alive.

Speaking to media persons in his Lok Sabha seat Uttara Kannada, Hegde said, "If you are ready to use the exact words used by me I will say this. My only condition is that the exact words should be used. Then only I will speak and will not deny what I have said. I am the only one who has been saying this for the past 20 years. As long as we have Islam in the world, there will be no end to terrorism. If we are unable to end Islam, we won’t be able to end terrorism. If you media people have the freedom to report this, please report this."

This is the exact translation of his statement in Kannada. Hegde is a five-time BJP MP from Uttara Kannada.

In 1996, at the age of 25 he became an MP. In 1998, 2004 and 2009, he defeated veteran Congress leader Margarate Alva in the Lok Sabha elections from the same seat.

Only once in 1999, he lost to Alva by less than 10,000 votes.

He is from a hardcore RSS background and played a big role during the Ayodhya movement. He is facing threat to his life from radical elements.
