Hostage crisis: Lalu, Paswan skip all-party meet
Nitish Kumar has called the meeting to discuss the abduction of four Bihar police officials by Maoists.

Patna: The all-party meeting called by Bihar Chief Minister on the hostage crisis began in Patna on Saturday afternoon. Nitish has called the meeting to discuss the abduction of four Bihar police officials by Maoists. One of the abducted security personnel, Bihar Military Police Sub-Inspector Lokus Tete , has already been killed by the Maoists.

However, two senior Bihar leaders Lalu Prasad and Ram Vilas Paswan are not attending the meeting.

"Invitation for the all-party meet was sent to the leaders on legislative party and they are attending the meeting," said Paswan.

The four policemen - Rupesh Kumar Sinha, Abhay Prasad Yadav, BMP havaldar Ehtesham Khan and Tete - were taken hostage in the forests of Lakhisarai during a fierce gunbattle with the Maoists on Sunday. Seven policemen were killed and 10 others injured during the gunbattle.

The Maoists are demanding the release of their eight jailed colleagues in lieu of the kidnapped policemen.
