New Delhi: The All India Congress Committee session on Saturday offered not only food for thought, but also the choicest cuisine to tickle the palate.
Apart from being a serious stocktaking exercise, AICC sessions have always been imbued with all the trappings of a jamboree, including a lavish spread of mouth-watering food.
For the breakfast, it was a mix of both South Indian and North Indian delicacies. Thus, one could have a pick from Idli, Dosa and Sambhar Vada, which have now acquired a pan-Indian flavour.
The north Indian food fare comprised Puri-sabzi, Bedmi, Chilla Chat and famous varieties of Chhat of Old Delhi.
For those with a sweet tooth, hot Jalebis with a topping of Rabri, Moong Halwa and hot Gulab Jamun were available.
The entirely vegetarian fare included popular dishes like Matar Korma, Dal Makhni, Aaloo Dum, Kadhi Chawal and Aaloo Gobhi. Beverages comprised coffee, tea and cold milk besides sweet curd and Sreekhand.
Top leaders of the Congress, led by party President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, besides at least 11 Chief Ministers, Cabinet Ministers and more than 2000 delegates attended the day-long session.
