Belgaum: Congress vice president on Saturday launched an attack on Centre's demonetisation policy and said that it is 'man-made disaster' by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Calling demonetisation a failure, Gandhi, at a rally in Belgaum in Karnataka, said, "Nothing will change in 50 days."
"PM has attacked our economy. Normally a PM works for the country and for the people. In English, we call this a man-made disaster. Similarly, demonetization is a Modi-made disaster. Questioning the motive of the policy, he said," Demonetisation was against poor people. Where is black money? Who has black money? All black money is not cash. And all cash is not black money."
"We spared 2 minutes of silence for Fidel Castro in Parliament. But BJP leaders couldn't spare 2 minutes for these people who died due to demonetisation," he said.
Accusing Modi of being insensitive of difficulties faced by farmers, he said that Modi tried to snatch away the land of the farmers from them, made fun of them in Parliament. he further said Modi made fun of MNREGA. He said that BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkand were taking away their water, land and jungle. BJP government shoots the tribal who stand for his rights, he said.
"Who has black money? Black Money is with one percent super rich population of the country. Farmers house won't be having black money. Indian Farmers are honest," he said.
"During last general elections, PM Modi Said Make Narendra Modi the PM and I will bring back the black money deposited in foreign bank accounts and Rs 15 lakh will be deposited in every Indian bank account. Tell me how many of you got Rs 15 lakh. Switzerland government has given India the name of 250 people who have their accounts in Switzerland banks. Yet nothing happened (sic)," Gandhi said.
Attacking the government for waiving off the debt owed by Vijay Mallya, he said, "Why are Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya sitting in London. PM Modi I have a question for you, Mallya a thief from India so why did you waved off his Rs 1200 crore loan. Why did you gave Vijay Mallya a toffee of Rs 1200 crore?"
