CPI asks people to reject BJP and Congress
CPI alleges BJP during NDA rule created communal tension in India.

Udupi: Karnataka State Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) Siddanagowda Patil on Monday asked people to reject both the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which followed imperialistic tendency by supporting and facilitating multinational companies neglecting the interests of the poor farmers, fishermen, beedi workers and others.

Addressing a public meeting in Udupi on Monday, Patil charged that the BJP during National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rule created communal tension in the country by instigating communal hatred between Hindus and Muslims, and Hindua and Christrians.

He said the Congres-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government, which came to power with the support of Left and other secular regional parties failed to stick on to the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) despite repeated caution by the Left parties and went ahead with several anti-farmer and anti-people policies such as the Indo-US nuclear deal, privatisation of banks and amalgamation, which forced the Left parties to break it ties with the UPA government.

He alleged that both the Congress and BJP had a secret strategy of having two-party rule system in the country like the United States.

Both the parties were behaving like the agents of MNCs, which had resulted in increasing the difficulties of poor farmers, beedi workers, fishermen community and others poor and downtroden sections in other states.

Both the BJP and Congress were trying to imply on the people that those were only two alternative parties to rule this country, he added.

Patil alleged that the swamijis (saints), who participated at the recent Hindu Samajotsava acted as 'agents of the BJP'. The swamijis were referred as jagadguru (Guru of the world) and they should be above any person or any political party. Supporting a communal party in the name of creation of Hindu vote bank was highly deplorable and condemnable, he alleged.

He said if the swamijis wanted to support or canvass a particular political party forgetting religious role, they should remove their saffron dress and jump into politics.

BV Kakkilaya, the veteran nonagenarian communist leader said the people, who wanted communal peace should give a fitting reply to communal forces in the coming parliamentary elections by electing the Third Front.
