Cash-for-votes: Amar's bail plea hearing today
Former Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh is currently admitted at AIIMS due to kidney problems.

New Delhi: Former Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh's bail plea will come up for hearing on Thursday in the cash-for-votes scam. The Court on Tuesday asked for a full report on Singh's health from AIIMS and Tihar Jail following suggestions that the initial medical reports were misleading. Amar Singh is in special care at the hospital for Kidney related problems.

Amar Singh needs psychiatry consultation for his "anxiety and restlessness", All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) told a Delhi court in its medical report on Wednesday.

Singh, in judicial custody, was admitted in AIIMS on September 12 following complications related to post-renal transplant, urinary tract infection, diarrhoea, diabetes, dehydration, hypothyroid and hypertension.

"For his anxiety and restlessness a psychiatry consultation has also been sought," AIIMS said in its medical report submitted before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal.

The premier health institute has told the court that Singh, who had undergone a kidney transplant in 2009, was suffering from multiple health problems and was prone to infections.

It said "the S Creatinine is fluctuating between 1.3-1.6 mg/dl (normal for him is 0.8-0.9 mg/dl). He (Amar Singh) has persistent tachycardia (heart rate exceeding normal range).

"He continues to have vomitting and diarrhoea for which the gastroenterologist has suggested automatic function tests and endoscopy with mucosal biopsy," the report said.

AIIMS said in its report that any kidney transplant patient, showing more than 30 per cent acute rise in Creatinine level, needs hospitalisation.
