Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is sitting pretty as his party is leading in all the regions of the state.

Ahmedabad/Shimla: Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has crossed the half-way mark in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly and is all set to form the next government in the state even as the Congress has fought back after trailing for a long time in Himachal Pradesh to take the lead.

Modi is sitting pretty as his party is leading in all the regions of the state. The Congress is far behind with Keshubhai Patel's Gujarat Parivartan Party, which was expected to hit Modi hard in Saurashtra, failing to make much of a difference.

The Himachal Pradesh trends could come as a soothing balm for the Congress which has been unable to counter the Modi wave in Gujarat. In the hill state no party has won two consecutive Assembly elections and 2012 seems to be no different.

The Gujarat Assembly has 182 seats. The BJP has 117 in the outgoing assembly against Congress's 59 while others had won six seats. Himachal Assembly has 68 seats with the Congress having 23 MLAs, the BJP 41 others had four in the outgoing Assembly.
