Bharatiya Janata Party workers held protests on Wednesday demanding resignation of Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti over allegations of tampering with evidence in a corruption case.
"Somnath Bharti should resign from his position. AAP has been exposed. Bharati does not have any authority to continue in his post. There is no question of AAP not knowing about it as Prashant Bhushan was the lawyer in this case," Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel had said on Tuesday.
A report by Times to India claimed that Bharti was once indicted for tampering with evidence by a Patiala house court. Bharti was representing a client on corruption charges then.
Somnath Bharti held a press conference on Tuesday to speak on the allegations levelled against him. He refuted the allegations saying that he worked to strengthen the evidence and not tamper it.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too came to Bharti's defence saying that there were no evidence against him. He also said that the court has delivered wrong judgement in the case.
