85. Bastar is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh and is part of Bastar (ST) Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Bastar falls in Bastar district and South region of Chhattisgarh. It is categorised as a rural seat.
There are a total of 1,53,714 voters in the seat, which includes 75,174 male voters, and 78,537 female voters. In the 2018 Chhattisgarh elections, Bastar recorded a voter turnout of 83.64%. In 2013 the turnout was 84.28%, and in 2008 it was 74.79%.
In 2013, Baghel Lakheshwar of INC won the seat by a margin of 19,168 votes (16.74%). Baghel Lakheshwar secured 50.59% of the total votes polled.
BJP won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 1,201 votes (1.24%), registering 41.17% of the total votes polled.
