Fatehpur Sikri: Amar Singh, one of India's most colourful candidates who is contesting his first direct elections this time, has attacked his former party, the Samajwadi Party (SP).
Speaking to CNN-IBN at a polling booth in the Fatehpur Sikri Lok Sabha seat, from where he is contesting on an RLD ticket, Amar Singh accused the SP of indulging in "strong-arm tactics".
"The Raja of Bhadawar (who is a state minister and whose wife is the SP candidate from Fatehpur-Sikri) is using goons to target non-SP political workers. I have just complained to Election Commissioner HS Brahma," he said.
Singh expressed the confidence that 90 per cent of the Jats would vote for the RLD-Congress combine.
Meanwhile, RLD chief Ajit Singh's son and sitting MP from Mathura Jayant Chaudhury attacked his opponent, BJP leader and film star Hema Malini. "Election is not a three-hour film," he said, taking potshots at the senior actress. Chaudhury's wife expressed confidence that women voters will vote for him.
