Sachin Bishnoi, one the prime accused in the murder case of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, was on Tuesday extradited to India from Baku in Azerbaijan. Upon arrival, he was produced before a judge of a Delhi court in the lockup itself due to security reasons and was sent to 10-day custody of the Delhi Police Special Cell.
The extradition comes two days after a team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell headed to Baku, Azerbaijan to finalise the legal formalities.
Sachin Bishnoi is the cousin of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and one of the alleged conspirators in the Punjabi singer’s murder, which took place in May last year.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022. He was shot at point-blank range and was declared dead on arrival at the Mansa civil hospital.
The probe led by Punjab police then pointed to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi being the mastermind of the killing. His close aide, Goldy Brar, who is said to be based in Canada, was been named in the chargesheet filed in the murder case.
Sachin, Lawrence Bishnoi’s cousin, later also claimed responsibility for Moose Wala’s murder online on Facebook and ever since then, he was fighting a legal battle in Azerbaijan to avoid extradition to India after he was detained there in August 2022.
Meanwhile, another accused in Moosewala’s murder, Vikramjeet Singh alias Vikram Brar, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after his deportation from the UAE last week.
Brar was involved in the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, besides targeted killings of innocent people and businessmen, the NIA said.
He was also involved in cases of smuggling weapons and extortion in India with the help of dreaded gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and others.
