'Promise of Five Centuries Fulfilled': Amit Shah On Ayodhya Ram Temple
Union home minister Amit Shah called the January 22 event ‘pleasant and successful’, and praised VHP and thousands of saints for their ‘struggle’, which has ‘yielded a pleasant and successful result today’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday that “the wait and promise of five centuries has been fulfilled” with the pran pratishta ceremony of Ram Lalla in the grand Ayodhya temple.

In his post on X (previously Twitter), Shah described it as “an unforgettable day for crores of devotees of Prabhu Shri Ram”. “Today, when our Ram Lalla is in his grand temple, like countless devotees of Prabhu Shri Ram, I too am overwhelmed with emotions,” he added, and stressed that it was not possible to capture the feelings in words.

He said that no fear and terror could shake the resolve and faith to build the temple at the Ram janmabhoomi in the holy Uttar Pradesh city. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion.

Shah paid his respects to “all those great men who kept this struggle and determination alive for centuries, endured many insults and tortures, but did not leave the path of religion”.

He added that the struggle of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, thousands of great saints and many others “has yielded a pleasant and successful result”. The Home Minister also said that the grand Ayodhya temple will remain “a unique symbol of the eternal and imperishable Sanatan culture for ages”.

Shah visited the Birla Temple in Delhi to mark the occasion on Monday.

BJP national president JP Nadda, who too was in Delhi, posted on X about how fortunate people were to witness today’s event, and urged everyone to “dedicate ourselves to the ideals and life values of Lord Shri Ram”.

“After more than 500 years of continuous struggle, today’s holy moment is emotional. Lord Shri Ram Lalla has been consecrated in the religious city of Shri Ayodhya Dham as per the rituals. It is the utmost good fortune of our generation that we are witnesses of this moment,” he posted.

Nadda also thanked Pm Narendra Modi for “performing his duties by following the strict rules and regulations for 11 days continuously. Today, every village, city, country, foreign country, the entire world is happy with Shri Ayodhya ji”.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who attended a ‘keerthana’ recitation at Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, highlighted the connection between the two cities.

“Kanchipuram, like Ayodhya, is considered to be one of the seven ‘Moksha Nagaris’. The connection between Kanchipuram and Ayodhya is also mentioned in the Brahmanda Purana and Garuda Purana,” said the FM.

She also praised ‘keerthanas’ of composers such as Thyagaraja, Sadasiva Brahmendra, Arunachala Kavi, Bhadrachala Ramadasu, Annamacharya and Purandara Dasa, as well as verses from the epic Silappathikaram, in Kanchipuram.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took the blessings at Shri Ram Temple in Zingabai Takli in Nagpur.

Meanwhile, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari called the event in Ayodhya a “supernatural moment”.

He expressed his gratitude and said the “wait of thousands of Kar Sevaks and Ram devotees” has been completed today. “…I express my gratitude to all the kar sevaks who have been struggling for centuries for this temple of Lord Shri Ram and those who have made sacrifices. Many thanks to the respected Prime Minister who has proved his commitment to cultural renaissance in building a new India! Respectful gratitude to him on behalf of all the countrymen!”

He stressed that the construction of a “grand-divine temple of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram Ji, who is adored by millions of Indians, is an important step in India moving towards Ramrajya”.
