Parliament Security Breach: 'He is Innocent, Will Go to Court,' Say Parents of Mastermind Lalit Jha
Lalit Jha, a Kolkata-based teacher and the alleged mastermind of the December 13 Parliament security breach incident was arrested on Thursday by Delhi Police

The parents of 32-year-old Lalit Jha, the mastermind of the Parliament security breach on Saturday claimed that their son is innocent and insisted that he was not involved in the conspiracy. Jha, a Kolkata-based teacher and the alleged mastermind of the December 13 Parliament security breach incident was arrested on Thursday by Delhi Police.

“We learned about the incident only yesterday,” Jha’s father, Devanand Jha was quoted by NDTV as saying. He added that his son was a responsible citizen who had received accolades in college.

“My son is not an offender. We will go to court. You can ask the villagers; my son was not like this,” he said.

Jha’s mother shared the sentiment describing her son as a “very good boy.” “We are not able to understand. We had no information about this matter,” she added.

The Kolkata coaching centre, where Lalit Jha teaches, has also vouched for his character.

Two intruders entered the Lok Sabha with smoke canisters emanating yellow smoke while proceedings were underway on December 13. Later, it was found that the plan was hatched by a group of six people last year who met on social media.

Police arrested four of the six accused, Sagar Sharma (26), Manoranjan D (34), Amol Shinde (25) and Neelam Devi (37) the same day while the alleged mastermind of the plan, Lalit Jha managed to escape. Jha, however, was arrested the next day. The Fifth accused Vishal Sharma alias Vickey, in whose house the accused stayed in Gurugram before reaching Parliament, was d.etained

“Their right was limited to the gallery. They jumped from the (visitors) gallery into the Well, which was trespass. They hid (smoke) canister in their shoes,” the police said.

Four of the six accused were produced before Delhi’s Patiala House Court which sent them to seven-day police custody.

On the other hand, the family of 22-year-old Amol Shinde, one of the accused arrested along with his partners, threatened to die by suicide if they were not allowed to talk to their son.
