A medical aspirant died by suicide in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi allegedly after consuming pesticide. A native of Eravar village, Bhairavi had been struggling with her studies and allegedly died by suicide due to anxiety over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), her parents said, reported India Today.

Bhairavi consumed pesticides about three days ago. She, however, did not inform anyone about the same and stayed in the same condition. Three days later she suddenly fell unconscious. Her relatives rushed her to a hospital. She was first admitted to Kallakurichi Government Hospital and was later transported to Salem Government Hospital, where she died on Monday. Further investigation into the death of the student is underway.

She was enrolled at NEET coaching centre in Athur. She had spoken to her parents about the issues she was facing related to her studies a few days back. Her parents, however, encouraged her to continue her studies and work harder, the report added.

Bhairavi’s brother Aravindhan said that she had appeared for NEET last year but was unable to clear it. She wanted to study MBBS and also took coaching but couldn’t clear the medical entrance exam, he said. Thereafter, she joined another NEET coaching centre in Athur. She had also complained that she couldn’t understand and feared she would score less, Aravindhan added.
