'Jasprit Bumrah's Return to Cricket Very Important Moment for India'
There were a host of India players who made successful comebacks from surgeries including Jasprit Bumrah in 2023.

2023 was a year of comebacks for several India stars, chief among them of that of Jasprit Bumrah who spent months recovering from a back surgery that saw him miss several major tournaments including the T20 World Cup, Border-Gavaskar Trophy, IPL 2023, WTC Final among others.

Bumrah finally made his comeback in August on the Ireland tour. There were fears over the fast bowler losing his touch following a major absence from international cricket but he put those doubts to rest with spectacular performances in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

And Dinesh Karthik reckons Bumrah’s return was a very important moment for Indian cricket.

“There have been many, many good things that have happened. Jasprit Bumrah’s return to cricket is a very, very important moment for us,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz.

Karthik also pointed out how Virat Kohli put a up a terrific show across formats including player-of-the-tournament award winning performance at the world cup during which he also became the first player in history to score 50 ODI hundreds.

“The way Virat Kohli has just come back in all formats, the man has got the skill, hunger, and determination,” Karthik said.

“Rohit Sharma’s incredible batting during the World Cup, just standing up and wanting to be counted as a leader. KL Rahul’s comeback to international has been a great success story as well, not only as a batter but as a keeper as well,” he added.

Karthik says India maintained their dominance on bilateral tours and came within an inch to ending their wait for a global title but one bad day turned ecstasy into agony.

“2023 has been a year which has seen some of the best cricket Team India have played and some really heart-breaking days as well. Most of the bilaterals, I think we have aced, as always. The 50-over World Cup that happened in India was a very special one. India played some brilliant cricket, barring the finals. As people would say, didn’t just go our way and Australia played way better on that day,” Karthik said.
