IND vs PAK: Virat Kohli Reaches 1000 Runs in International Cricket in 2023 on Reserve Day | WATCH
Virat Kohli achieved another milestone against Pakistan, completing 1000 runs in international cricket in 2023 as he completed his half century in 55 balls

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli continues to achieve milestone after milestone.  The year 2023 has been a very promising one so far for Kohli and against Pakistan on the reserve day of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash, Virat added another feather to his cap. Kohli completed 1000 runs in international cricket during the ongoing year 2023 with a deft boundary against Pakistan on Monday, September 11.

The 34-year-old smashed the first boundary of the day on the reserve day, starting the game from where it had stopped because of rain on the day prior.

KL Rahul completed his half-century in 60 balls on his comeback, as the partnership with Kohli also went past the century stand as the Indian batters dominated Pakistan’s bowling attack just like a replay of Sunday.

It was Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill who started the proceedings on a blistering note as the Indian openers stitched together a partnership of 121 runs completely negating the threat of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah.

Earlier on the reserve day, Babar Azam’s men were handed a massive blow as Haris Rauf was held back from bowling against India on Monday due to a precaution.

Pakistan’s bowling coach Morne Morkel revealed that Rauf had scans on Sunday and felt inflammation on his oblique muscle, thus the leading wicket-taker of the Asia Cup 2023 wouldn’t bowl against India.

Kohli and Rahul meanwhile utilised the opportunity to dominate the Pakistan bowlers. Not only did the talismanic batter complete 1,000 runs in international cricket against Pakistan, but Kohli also neared another milestone as he was on the cusp of completing 13,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Virat had earlier smashed six centuries already in the year 2023, including two in IPL, and two against Sri Lanka in ODIs in March and he remained on course to get his third ton having completed his fifty in 55 balls against Pakistan.

It was only the fourth time that all four top-order Indian batters had smashed half-centuries, while the last time it happened against Pakistan was in 2017 in Birmingham.
