'High Time the World Starts Talking About His Strengths': Mohammad Kaif Feels Shreyas Iyer Should be Appreciated
Mohammad Kaif heaped praise on Iyer and said it's high time the world should stop pointing out his weaknesses and start praising him for his strengths.

Mohammad Kaif has slammed Shreyas Iyer’s critics after the stylish batter scored a fine half-century against Australia in the fifth T20I at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Iyer was the standout batter for India on the tricky surface as he paced the innings well to score 53 runs off 37 balls, while the other batters struggled to get going. He hit 5 fours and two sixes during his knock.

Iyer completed his fifty off 36 balls with a massive six over mid-wicket off pacer Nathan Ellis which was one of the highlights of the match.

The stylish batter took a rest in the first three-match of the series after the ODI World Cup. He replaced Tilak Varma in the XI for the last two matches.

Kaif heaped praise on Iyer and said it’s high time the world should stop pointing out his weaknesses and start praising him for his strengths.

“Shreyas Iyer has had a phenomenal run recently and it should be appreciated. High time the world starts talking about his strengths and not keep pointing to his weakness,” Kaif wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter

After the match, Iyer talked about his crucial knock as he was delighted to contribute to the team’s success after missing the first three matches.

“Elated to see everyone chipping in and the way these guys stood up from game one, especially in the batting department is mesmerising to see,” Iyer told broadcasters

Taking further about his knock, he said that it wasn’t the best of tracks to gat on but the team did well to post a challenging total of 160.

“When I saw 3 wickets falling down, I started to calculate what would be the best score on this wicket and it wasn’t an easy wicket to bat on, and whenever we find ourselves in such a situation it is important to assess the conditions and bat accordingly, today was the right example of how we did it as a team. 160 was the right total, it’s a commendable total especially after losing 4 wickets at the top and bowlers did a good job in restricting them,” he said.
