Just like the application process and preliminary answer key, the result for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 too will be released ahead of its scheduled time. The assigned date for declaration of the GATE 2021 result is March 22, however, news18.com has learned that it will be declared around March 18. The final answer key too will be released along with the result around the same time at gate.iitb.ac.in. Scorecard will be available to download only after the result declaration.
A total of 7,11,542 answer sheets for all candidates present at GATE 2021 are available on the official websites. A total of 8,82,684 candidates had applied for the exam this year, a slight increase from 8.59 lakh last year. The rise was also because of the introduction of two new courses in GATE 2021. This year, the humanities students were also allowed to appear for the exam in which 14,196 students had applied. Of the total, 2,88,379 are female students. This is an increase of about 10,000 from last year.
This year, in another unique move, the youngest entry that came from GATE 2021 was from a 15-year-old boy from Rajasthan, and among one of the eldest candidates to register for GATE so far was an 88-year-old man had also applied this year.
GATE is an entrance exam for admission to MTech courses for IITs, IISc, and other institutes as well as is an entry gateway for PSU jobs. GATE 2021 score is valid for three years from the date of announcement of the results. This year, because of the economic slump caused due to the pandemic, the number of vacancies across PSUs is expected to be lesser than usual. This might increase the competition for MTech admissions. To seek admission, candidates also will be called for interviews and subsequent rounds of selection by respective IITs.
After the declaration of results, GATE 2021 scorecards form the GOAP portal. “In case, GATE qualified candidates require the soft copy of their GATE Scorecard after May 31 and till December 31, they MUST pay a fee of Rs 500 for obtaining the same. From January 1, 2022 onwards, no scorecard will be issued by GATE authority for GATE 2021 qualified candidates,” as per the official notice. Hardcopy of the GATE scorecard will not be sent, hence, candidates need to download and take a printout of their scorecard once it’s declared.
