Delhi High Court today sent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Minister Sanjay Singh to jail till October 27. The High Court had, on Friday, agreed to hear a plea by the AAP leader against his arrest in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the scrapped Delhi excise policy.
Singh was arrested after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided his premises in connection with the Delhi excise policy-related money laundering case on October 4. Singh, 51, is the third AAP leader who has been arrested.
Earlier on October 5, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court had remanded the AAP MP to ED custody till October 10. Sanjay Singh is the second high-profile arrest in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam after former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
Appearing for the probe agency, Special Public Prosecutor Naveen Matta had told the court that the agency found transactions worth Rs 2 crore in two tranches and AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s close aide Dinesh Arora confirmed from Singh telephonically regarding receipt of the amount.
Matta also told the court that a total of 239 places have been searched including raids at Singh’s house on October 4 so far in the case.
