'Diwali Becomes More Special..': PM Modi Sends Best Wishes for Semifinal, Social Media in Overdrive After India's Win
PM Modi sent the Indian team best wishes for the semifinal, Irfan Pathan and Wasim Jaffer lead reactions to India's unbeaten run in the World Cup group stage.

Indian cricket team dished out a clinical display against the Netherlands, winning their final group stage clash against the Dutch by 160 runs to finish the league phase of the World Cup with 9 wins from as many games.

India topped the points table with 18 points, and the Men in Blue are heading into their semifinal against New Zealand in red-hot form. As India’s win over the Dutch coincided with Diwali, PM Narendra Modi wrote on social media that the festival became all the more special for the nation.

That’s not all, PM Modi sent his best wishes to Rohit Sharma and Co. for the semifinal on November 15.

“Diwali becomes even more special thanks to our cricket team! Congratulations to Team India on their fantastic victory against the Netherlands! Such an impressive display of skill and teamwork. Best wishes for the Semis! India is elated,” wrote PM Modi on X (formerly Twitter).

Former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan wished the Indian team well after their dominating display in the league phase.

“Diwali festival or Bharat ki jeet humeshaa khushi ko dugna Karti hai. Well done team India on playing outstanding cricket thru the league phase. #INDvsNE,” wrote Pathan.

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer shared a hilarious meme as he wished India well for the semis.

“Time to carry the momentum into the semis,” wrote Jaffer.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah lavished praise on KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer for their respective centuries, wishing the team well for the semifinal.

India are set to lock horns with New Zealand in a repeat of the 2019 semifinal with the Men in Blue hoping that the outcome this time around will be different as they hope of end the ICC trophy drought since 2013 after ending the league stage unbeaten.
