'Better Late Than Never': Mamata Banerjee Hopeful of Seat-Sharing in INDIA Bloc for 2024 Polls
Mamata Banerjee also addressed a range of issues from TMC colleague Mahua Moitra's expulsion from the parliament to the mass suspension of MPs from the house for the rest of the Winter session

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday opened up about the delay in the seat-sharing arrangement within the INDIA bloc ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and said the matter should be taken up in the next meeting as it is “Better late than never.”

“I think all will be together. There is an opportunity to discuss this (seat sharing) matter. Tomorrow is a great opportunity to discuss it in detail. The majority of political parties will agree to one-to-one seat sharing, maybe one or two may not agree. I don’t have any motto or vendetta,” Banerjee said.

The TMC supremo also addressed a range of issues from TMC colleague Mahua Moitra’s expulsion from the parliament to the mass suspension of MPs from the house for the rest of the Winter session.

Speaking on Mahua’s expulsion over Çash for Query case, the Trinamool Congress supremo, who is on a four-day visit to Delhi, said that it was unfortunate that she was not even given a chance to present her defence.

“This is a very bad case. She was not allowed to defend herself. That is also very unfortunate. When the opposition raises their views they are expelled. If you are in BJP, you are very good,” Banerjee said while talking to ANI.

About the suspension of several MPs from both houses of the parliament, Banerjee said if all the members were suspended then who would raise the voice of the people?

“It is not that collectively they have to suspend everybody. If they think that the House is supreme why are afraid? If they suspend all the members how will they raise their voice? They are passing three important bills. There is a system in democracy. Who will raise the voice of the people?” the TMC leader said.

“The voices of the people are being choked. Let them suspend the House first. They have no morale right to run this House to suspend the opposition fully. They will run a mockery nothing else,” she added.

In one of the largest mass suspensions to date, over 90 MPs from both houses were suspended on Monday for disrupting proceedings and causing uproar in Parliament over last week’s security breach incident.

Mamata Banerjee on Rahul Gandhi

On Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s role, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said that he doesn’t need to make a statement but a prime ministerial candidate can only be finalised after the elections.

Banerjee arrived in Delhi on Sunday on a four-day visit, during which she is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, her party’s MPs and attend a meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc.
