In a move to enhance roaster stability and reduce delays, the leading carrier Air India has introduced a new feature in its rostering system, which will allow to decrease fatigue among the pilots.
The steps have been taken by the airline at a time when there is a sudden spike of fatigue cases among pilots due to the continuous rise of air traffic and flights.
Here’s What Air India’s Chief Says About New Tools
Reacting about the same, Air India chief Campbell Wilson in his weekly message conveyed that the airline has taken multiple steps to improve the reliability of print roasters, reduce interruptions, make the use of standby blocks, and establish an effective communication channel.
Taking about the safety measures in the airline operations, Wilson said, “We launched Coruson a few weeks ago, which was followed by the Boeing Alertness Model (BAM)3, the fatigue mitigating tool in our Jeppesen rostering system, that will prevent publishing fatiguing rosters and pairings”.
Air India’s DocuNet and the Pilot Sector Report (PSR) app
In addition, Wilson also said that the carrier will introduce the DocuNet and the Pilot Sector Report (PSR) app, which will help revolutionize the company’s flight operations and pilot satisfaction by improving safety, efficiency and compliance.
As per Wilson, the upcoming tool DocuNet will make document delivery easy. While, the PSR app will speed post-flight reporting, assuring synchronized and up-to-date. Air India chief said both the tools are quite simple to use, and will easily connect with the the current systems.
