Thunderbolts Star Florence Pugh Has An Exciting Update For Marvel Fans
In her recent update, Florence Pugh disclosed that she has “just started” filming Thunderbolts.

After a series of delays and casting changes, the Marvel movie Thunderbolts is back on track and officially in production. English actress Florence Pugh, known for her roles in Midsommar (2019) and her MCU debut Black Widow (2021), recently shared this news while promoting her upcoming film Dune: Part Two.

In an Entertainment Tonight interview, Pugh disclosed that she had “just started” filming Thunderbolts. Pugh expressed a deep sense of honour for the unique experience of simultaneously promoting two movies, Dune: Part Two and Oppenheimer, while also beginning work on her next project, Thunderbolts. She described the situation as a “bizarre press tour” but felt fortunate to have successfully managed the demanding schedules of all three projects concurrently.

Pugh is joined by a star-studded cast of returning MCU actors, including Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Olga Kurylenko. The film is under the direction of Jake Schreier, with a script penned by Lee Sung Jin, Joanna Calo and Eric Pearson.

Originally slated for a later release, Thunderbolts is now scheduled to hit theatres on May 2, 2025. This shift in release dates came after Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four swapped their original release dates.

The movie faced challenges last year due to production delays caused by strikes, leading to some key actors having to drop out. Steven Yeun, who was set to play Sentry, had to depart due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Lewis Pullman. Ayo Edibiri, originally cast in a mystery role, was replaced by Geraldine Viswanathan.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Viswanathan shared her excitement about joining the Marvel universe in Thunderbolts, saying, “I’ve always wanted to join the universe in whatever capacity, and this just came up.” She described the opportunity as destiny, humorously adding, “Destiny called me on the phone, and I picked up and I said, ‘I’ll be there.’ Very excited.”

Meanwhile, fans can catch Florence Pugh in Dune: Part Two when it premieres on March 1, 2024. Pugh is set to portray the character Princess Irulan in the film. In the original novel, Princess Irulan’s role is relatively small; however, Pugh’s casting suggests that the character’s role may be expanded for the film adaptation.
