Every year, thousands of people relocate to Mumbai, also known as the City of Dreams, with the hope of making their name. The coastal city also hosts many students, who came here to pursue higher studies. People who have lived in Mumbai are well aware of the cost of living in this metropolitan city. It can be really hard to find a well-ventilated apartment here to live a comfortable life. And even if you find one, the cost will be just too much. Highlighting this problem, an Instagram content creator has come up with a parody video, where he stepped into the shoes of a property broker in Mumbai.
In the video, the content creator, recognised as Sumit Palve, introduces a tiny apartment in a humorous way to demonstrate the housing crisis in Mumbai. According to Palve, the 1 BHK property will offer every amenity that a bachelor requires to survive. However, the buyer will need to compromise with the floor area at this price since the apartment is situated in South Mumbai, which is a posh neighbourhood. “South Bombay hai boss compromise to Karna Padega Boss (This is South Bombay. So you have to compromise, boss),” Palve captioned the post.
The video opens to show Palve, dressed in formal attire just like a professional broker, welcoming his viewers to the apartment. After sharing details of the property, he enters the bedroom, where a single bed can be somehow adjusted. The room may look quite congested but it is equipped with a wall AC that will help the residents cope with the humidity of Mumbai during summer.
Then Palve takes the viewers to the kitchen space that will find it hard to accommodate more than one person at a time. The washroom also doesn’t have enough space. But a geyser is there to compensate for it. What serves as a rare luxury for the property is an open terrace that can be accessible through a narrow staircase. The area is more like a living room, which has a large glass window, enabling a view of the cityscape.

The text in the video suggests that the price of the apartment is Rs 2. 5 crores. Reacting to the video, one viewer was quick to admit, “I was suffocating till he reached the terrace.” A user found the washroom and the kitchen setup “the worst.” One viewer thinks the terrace is “much much better” than the bedroom.
Since being dropped on Instagram, the video has received more than 2.5 million viewers.
