Shilpa Agnihotri made a comeback to television screens with a role in the mythological series, Srimad Ramayan. Portraying the character of Keikayi, Raja Dashrath’s second wife, her role undergoes a transformation from positive to negative as per the mythological storyline. However, signing up for the show wasn’t an easy decision for Shilpa. The most challenging aspect for her was the emotional toll of being separated from her daughter.
Shilpa recently shared her emotional journey. Despite the hurdles, she took a unique step by relocating her family near Umbergaon, where the shooting is taking place. This decision ensures that her daughter remains close to her sets.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shilpa Agnihotri said, “Well it is definitely not easy. It is now that I have come to know what a working mother’s guilt feels like. The first few days were extremely difficult for me because I used to sit in my vanity van and cry, missing my daughter. It is never easy for anybody.” However, now that her family shifted to Umbergaon, Shilpa says, “If and when need be, it takes only a few minutes for me to go meet her or call her on the sets. This has really worked in my favour.”
Talking about how she has been managing work and her daughter, Shilpa Agnihotri explained, “I am managing my guilt part. The actual management is done by her super father and a super help. So these two are the ones who are managing everything very beautifully for me. I think without them, this was not even possible for a day. I do my part by making sure that I cook before I leave in the morning. I make sure that my daughter eats the food made by me. I lessen my guilt by doing so. It has been three months now and collectively, we’ve managed well, I suppose. Fingers crossed, hopefully, it remains this way.”
Shilpa Agnihotri recently shared the reasons behind her decision to take on the role of Keikayi in Srimad Ramayan. Initially uncertain due to her responsibilities as a mother to her one-year-old daughter, Shilpa was eventually convinced over four months by her friend Siddharth Kumar Teewary. Despite her hesitations, the production team persisted in their efforts to sign her, recognising potential in her that she was unaware of. After months of persuasion, Shilpa finally listened to the narration and was impressed by the role.
Apurva Agnihotri and Shilpa Saklani, who exchanged vows on June 24, 2004, became parents in 2022 by adopting a baby girl named Ishaani.
