Mumbai: No Local Trains on Kharghar-Panvel Route for 38 Hours from Tonight | Here's Why
The block is scheduled to take place from 11 pm on September 30 to 1 pm on October 2

A major 38-hour traffic block will be enforced from September 30 to October 2 on both the Up and Down lines between Panvel and Kharghar suburban stations resulting in the cancellation of local trains between the route for the given time frame.

This apart, more than 170 services will also be cancelled while 700 trains will be short-terminated at Belapur.

The block is scheduled to take place from 11 pm on September 30, to 1 pm on October 2. The time period for the blockade has been decided keeping in mind that most of the educational institutions and offices will remain closed on these days.

According to the officials, authorities have directed the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and other public transport bodies to arrange for additional buses to accommodate hundreds of passengers who rely on Mumbai local and train services for their regular commute.

As far as the reason behind this blockade is concerned, the central railways are remodelling the suburban rail yard at Panvel and constructing two new lines for a western dedicated freight corridor on the JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust)-Delhi route, railway officials said.

Before the start of the 38-hour long block, the last local train for Panvel on the Down Harbour line will depart from CSMT at 9:02 pm on September 30 and arrive at Panvel at 10:22 pm while the last local train departing Panvel on the Up Harbour line will leave Panvel at 10:35 pm and arrive at CSMT at 11:54 pm on September 30.

The last local train for Panvel on the Down Trans-Harbour line before the block will depart from Thane at 9:36 p. and reach Panvel at 10:28 pm on September 30.
