The actress is none other than Sheila Ramani. She was a popular actress in the 1950s and 1960s, and was the talk of the town because of her acting abilities and beauty. Even Dev Anand was head over heels for her, as per reports. Sheila Ramani made her acting debut with the film Taxi Driver in 1954. The film was directed by Chetan Anand and starred Dev Anand in the lead role. The film also starred Kalpana Karthik and Johnny Walker in important roles.
After this film, Sheila Ramani became a big star in Bollywood. She started getting offered films back-to-back. Her stardom was such that it was difficult for her to even walk on the road, as there were huge crowds of fans outside her house. Big stars like Sunil Dutt and Kishore Kumar too wanted to work with her.
Sheila Ramani also became the first actress in her generation to work in a Pakistani film. The name of the film was Anokhi, which was released in 1959. Apart from that, the actress worked in films like Naukari with Kishore Kumar and Railway Platform with Sunil Dutt. Some of her other popular films include The Return of Mr Superman, Jungle King, and Teen Batti Char Raasta. After working for a few years, her health started deteriorating. Her last film was Awara Ladki in 1967.
Sheila Ramani suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and had a painful death. It was reported that she was also in a coma and sadly passed away in 2015.
