Daisy Edgar-Jones starrer disaster thriller Twisters truly brought a ‘storm’ to theatres, collecting over $300 million at the global box office. The hit sequel to the 1996 film was released on July 19 and is still holding on strong. The film is now also streaming digitally; however, this doesn’t seem to have affected its business. Despite a plethora of options, people are thoroughly enjoying Twisters, helping the film to even surpass its predecessor’s domestic haul. With this kind of success, another sequel feels inevitable.
The film’s stars recently opened up about a potential follow-up to Twisters, sharing their wild ideas. Speaking to ComicBook, actor Sasha Lane revealed the sequel plans that have been shared in the cast group chat with a lot of jokes, like the characters going to space and a drone facing off with Superman.

“We literally used to crack jokes all the time, and we still do it in the group text, like, ‘Yo, Twisters in space!’ Or ‘Lily’s drone against Superman!’ That’s one of our favorite ones. We don’t know what’s going to happen, but I think we just act like we did in the film and we’re being a little rowdy, and we’re just wondering where we’re going. But it’s mostly Lily’s drone meets Superman,” she said.
While this clearly seems like a neat joke, a straight-up Twisters sequel can be a safe bet in the future.
What Happens In Twisters?
After surviving a disastrous encounter with a tornado, former storm chaser Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) gets back to a desk job of monitoring extreme weather from behind a computer screen. However, a situation comes up when Cooper is thrown back into action as she heads to the Midwest to track twisters. She only faces the deadly phenomenon once again but also encounters social media star Tyler Owens (Glen Powell). As the storms intensify, the duo joins hands to combine their skills to survive.
