The upcoming Malayalam movie Pongala, written and directed by AB Binil, has piqued the interest of viewers. The storyline focuses on a conflict between two groups, set against the Vypin Harbour backdrop. The film is inspired by historical incidents that happened in the coastal regions of Vypin and Munambam in the past.
The film has not started filming yet and the makers are still looking for new child actors to cast in the film. Meanwhile, in the midst of all this, to further pique the interest of fans, the makers released a title poster for Pongala on Thursday, July 18.
The title poster was unveiled by Fahadh Faasil on social media. The film’s tagline reads, ‘Liberation of a coast.’ Fahadh Faasil wished the entire team of Pongala along with unveiling the poster.
Pongala stars Sreenath Bhasi in the lead role. The film is produced by Anil Pillai, Donna Thomas, Alex Paul, and Geo Sheebas under the banners of Global Pictures Entertainment and Thea Creations. The film, which blends action and humour, features an ensemble cast including Baburaj, Bibin George, Appani Sarath, Surya Krishna, Shammi Thilakan, Indrans, Yami Sona, Durga Krishna, Martin Murugan, and Praveena. According to recent reports, filming is set to begin on August 17 at locations in Vypin and Munambam.
Lead actor Sreenath Bhasi was last seen in the blockbuster hit Manjummel Boys, directed and written by Chidambaram S Poduval. The film’s cast includes notable names such as Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S Poduval, Lal Jr, Deepak Parambol and Abhiram, among many others. It became the highest-grossing film in Malayalam cinema.
Meanwhile, AB Binil has also made his mark as a screenwriter and actor in the Malayalam industry. He began his acting career with the 2018 film Theneechayum Peerankipadayum and served as an assistant director on Joseph in 2018. Binil debuted as a director and writer in 2022 with Vamanan.
