Arijit Singh, a name synonymous with contemporary Hindi music, has captured the hearts of millions with his soulful voice and chart-topping hits over the past decade. Despite his immense popularity and success, what stands out about Arijit, according to fellow singer Sunidhi Chauhan, is his unassuming nature and unwavering dedication to his craft.
In a recent conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Sunidhi Chauhan shared her admiration for Arijit’s unique approach to music. She noted that even during concerts, where he is surrounded by thousands of adoring fans, Arijit appears as if he’s in the comfort of his own home, completely immersed in his music. He remains indifferent to the crowd’s gaze, focusing solely on his performance.
Sunidhi, who has been a prominent figure in the music industry long before Arijit’s rise to fame, expressed her respect for his humility. She described him as a perpetual student of music, constantly learning and evolving. “He is still a student,” Sunidhi remarked, highlighting how Arijit’s ability to adapt to various musical genres without altering his voice is a rare and admirable talent. His versatility allows him to make every song he sings his own, a quality that has endeared him to fans across generations.
Attempting to decode the secret behind Arijit’s widespread appeal, Sunidhi suggested that his lack of self-obsession plays a significant role. She believes that Arijit’s disinterest in self-glorification allows him to stay grounded and focus purely on his love for music. “He doesn’t think he is Arijit Singh. He doesn’t love himself so much,” she observed, emphasising that his humility is reflected in both his art and his interactions with others.
Sunidhi also pointed out that Arijit’s genuine passion for music is evident in his performances. He often sings songs by other artists, including those of newer singers, during his concerts. “He just wants to make music. He doesn’t want to be heard, he wants to sing,” Sunidhi concluded.
