Singer Elton John has revealed his struggle with limited vision in one eye due to a severe eye infection. The 77-year-old music legend shared a long note on Instagram and confirmed his condition, stating that he was healing but the recovery would take time.
Over the years, the Benny and the Jets singer has been dealing with a series of health issues. In his note, Elton also expressed gratitude to his medical team and family for their care and support.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye. I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks,” he wrote.
The singer also shared that he has been quietly spending his recovery period at home and feeling positive about the progress. As soon as he dropped the news, many, including his friends and celebrities, sent their best wishes. Designer Donatella Versace wrote, “Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you,” while Tennis legend Billie Jean King said, “Sending our love and support your way. Feel better soon, friend.”
Radio presenter Bob Harris wrote, “Sending you so much Elton.” Davey Johnstone, the singer’s long-time partner, commented, “Buckets of love from Kay, me and the kid.”
This health update comes when Elton John was set to appear at the premiere of a documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival. According to Variety, he will still be in Toronto for the event to unveil Elton John: Never Late, as planned so far.
Elton John’s Health Issues
Last year, the singer had a minor accident after he slipped at his villa and was rushed to the hospital. After a brief rest at home, he recovered.
Back in 2022, fans were left worried when Elton was spotted in a wheelchair at the Leipzig airport. Noting that he had already gone through hip surgery in 2021, the singer explained that his team brought him the wheelchair to rest due to a long walk to the flight, states a Today.com report.
