Shweta Bachchan recently paid a visit to Malaika Arora and her family to offer condolences following the passing of Malaika and Amrita Arora’s stepfather, Anil Mehta. Anil Mehta tragically passed away on Wednesday, with initial reports suggesting a possible suicide, though the investigation remains ongoing. His funeral was held on Thursday afternoon.
A video shared by paparazzi Instagram account, Filmygyan, shows Shweta Bachchan stepping out of a white car and entering Malaika’s family home to extend her support during this difficult time.
According to sources, Malaika Arora’s mother, Joyce, shared details with the police regarding her ex-husband, Anil Mehta’s tragic passing. In her statement, Joyce mentioned that Anil had a routine of sitting on the balcony every morning to read the newspaper. Although they had divorced, Joyce revealed that they had reconciled and had been living together again for the past few years. On the morning of the incident, Joyce noticed Anil’s slippers in the living room, prompting her to search for him on the balcony.
Addressing the media outside Malaika’s family residence, the police provided updates on the ongoing investigation. A spokesperson stated, “Anil used to live on the sixth floor. We are conducting a thorough investigation from all possible angles. Our forensic teams are on-site, and his body has been sent for postmortem. At first glance, it appears to be suicide, but we are leaving no stone unturned and continuing the investigation.”
The Arora sisters have been receiving immense support from close friends within the film industry following the heartbreaking news. Arbaaz Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor have been consistently by Malaika’s side. Arbaaz was one of the first to visit the family home on Wednesday, followed by Kareena and Saif Ali Khan after the initial police investigation concluded.
Members of the Khan family, including Salim Khan, Salma Khan, Sohail Khan, and Arpita Khan Sharma, were also spotted arriving to offer their condolences. Additionally, industry figures such as Ananya Panday, Chunky Panday, and Kajol came forward to express their sympathy.
On Wednesday night, Malaika Arora posted a heartfelt tribute on social media, mourning the loss of her stepfather. She wrote, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”
