During an interview with Variety, Rhea confirmed that as the film Crew had an open ending, the makers have new ideas for a sequel and are thinking of turning the movie into a franchise.
She said, “I am really scared of sequels, Ektaa (Co-Producer) gets so annoyed with me, but this is the first time when I finished the film and a week later, my writers messaged me that they have an idea for the sequel of the film. I was like this is insane. There is so much excitement and joy around this film that this time…I might actually just do it. I believe that this film could make a really fun sequel as the end is open ended.”
Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon and Tabu, Crew revolves around the lives of three air-hostesses stumbling upon a dead passenger smuggling gold biscuits and what happens when they decide to steal the gold amid the backdrop of their airlines Kohinoor facing bankruptcy.
Apart from this, Rhea and Ekta have also confirmed that they are also working on a sequel to their 2018 comedy film Veere Di Wedding which starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar, Sonam Kapoor and Shikha Talsania.
Rhea said, “The work is in progress, but it is happening and it’s exciting. We’re getting there but it’s going to take a bit. It’s a rediscovery of what the spirit of Veere Di Wedding was. It’s not going to be what people expect.”
Apart from the audience and critics, celebs like Karan Johar, Shanaya Kapoor and Tahira Kashyap among others also showered praises on Crew. Producer Rhea Kapoor is the daughter of actor Anil Kapoor and is known for producing films like Veere Di Wedding, Thank You For Coming, Aisha and Khoobsurat.
